Hardy Kiwi Package
(You May Multiply Quantity in Cart)
SHIPS EARLY SPRING 2018
Each Hardy Kiwi Package consists of 24 total vines, 20 female (fruiting) and four male (pollinating).
You'll receive a mix of our sweetest, most delicious varieties. We only offer the sweeter and more cold-hardy Actinidia arguta hardy kiwis.
We recommend planting your kiwi vines near a trellis, gazebo, or tree that you don't mind having a vigorous and heavy-fruiting vine on. You may also trellis multiple plants on a wine grape trellis with a top wire 6' in height. Hardy Kiwi is a very forgiving and heavy-bearing fruit, many customers order multiple packages.
A robust and hardy fruit, Hardy Kiwi grows well in USDA zones 5-9. An attractive climbing vine with heart shaped foliage and clusters of deliciously fragrant small white flowers in summer. The delicious oval fruits can be harvested in late August-September.
Actinidia arguta hardy kiwis will grow in USDA zone 4 and, tolerating temperatures as low as -30°F, though they develop shoots early in the spring that are extremely sensitive to frost. In most years, growers in Zone 4 will see some shoot “burning” due to frost, although the plant usually survives, regrows, and fruits despite some spring shoot removal. If flowers are frosted, fruit will not develop that year.
